Katie & Chris’s Newquay wedding

Katie and Chris married at St Columb Minor Parish Church, then celebrated at The Sandy Lodge Hotel in Newquay.

Kilts, a classic car, a coastal breeze and a sunset on the Barrowfields: it was a Cornish wedding with plenty of character.

Kilts on, and out the door

The morning started with the small details: hose tied, flashes straightened and sporrans checked.

Then Chris and his groomsmen walked through the village streets to the church together, all in matching kilts. It’s the kind of moment that tells you how the rest of the day will go.

A ceremony at St Columb Minor Parish Church

Katie arrived in a classic blue car, winding down the narrow lane to St Columb Minor, a village church just outside Newquay.

Inside, stained glass, carved wood and a tiled aisle framed the ceremony. A tartan plaid draped over Chris’s shoulder added a quiet, personal touch.

Afterwards, guests packed the lane by the old stone archway and sent them off in a blizzard of confetti.

Bridesmaids, breeze and big laughs

Cornwall rarely keeps still, and neither did this wedding party. The wind caught Katie’s veil more than once, and the bridesmaids couldn’t stop laughing.

Moments like these are why I don’t direct the day. They happen in seconds, and they’re gone if you’re busy setting up a pose.

Group photographs above the bay

For the group photographs, we used the open grass above the sea, with the Newquay headland and the Atlantic behind.

I keep group photos organised and quick, so everyone is back with a drink in minutes.

Sunset portraits on the Barrowfields

The Barrowfields sit on the clifftop along Narrowcliff, a stretch of open grass with Bronze Age burial mounds and wide views across the bay.

Just a short walk from the reception, it gave Katie and Chris a few quiet minutes together as the sun went down. The wind did the rest, catching Chris’s plaid and Katie’s dress.

Then it was back to The Sandy Lodge Hotel for the evening.

What Katie & Chris said

“He captured moments we missed and moments we saw.”

Peter was the perfect photographer for our wedding! He captured moments we missed and moments we saw, and he made everyone in the wedding party feel completely at ease. The photos were perfect, a mixture of traditional and candid. He took what we asked for and went above and beyond. Highly recommended!
