Wedding Photography and Film FAQs

Real answers about documentary wedding photography and films

These are the questions couples usually ask before booking wedding photography, wedding films, or combined coverage.

The short version is simple. I work in a calm, documentary way, with a focus on real moments, honest sound, natural movement and the feeling of the day.

If your question is not covered here, send me your date, venue and what you are thinking about. I will give you a straight answer.

Photography and Film Coverage

Do you offer both wedding photography and films?

Yes. You can book wedding photography, wedding films, or combined photography and film coverage where the date, timings and structure of the day make sense.

Can we book photography only?

Yes. Photography is still a core part of my work. The approach is documentary, natural and unobtrusive, with light direction where it helps for family groups and relaxed portraits.

Can we book film only?

Yes. Wedding films are available for selected dates. The films are built from real sound, movement, ceremony audio, speeches and atmosphere, rather than staged scenes or repeated moments.

Can one person cover both photography and film?

Sometimes, but not always. A lighter hybrid approach can work for some weddings. However, larger weddings or more complex timings may need a second shooter or a separate filmmaker to cover the day properly.

Will you tell us what setup is best?

Yes. I will be direct about what is realistic. The priority is doing the work properly, not promising too much and weakening the final result.

Style and Approach

What is your photography style?

The style is documentary, natural and atmospheric. I focus on real moments, strong composition, movement and the feeling of the day, rather than stiff posing or trend-led images.

What is your wedding film style?

The films are story-led and built around real sound. Vows, speeches, laughter, music, room sound and natural movement all help shape the final film.

Do you pose people?

Most of the day is photographed and filmed naturally. However, I will give calm direction when it helps, especially for family photographs, portraits and practical moments where the day needs some structure.

Do you do family group photos?

Yes. Family photographs are included where needed. I usually recommend keeping the list short and focused, so the formal part does not take over the day.

Do you direct couple portraits?

Yes, lightly. I usually suggest a short portrait session during the day, but the aim is to keep it relaxed, natural and quick.

What does “No stiff posing. No forced scenes. No fuss.” mean?

It means I do not turn your wedding into a photoshoot or film set. I work quietly, observe carefully and step in only when direction helps the day flow.

Wedding Films and Audio

Do you record the ceremony and speeches?

Yes, where film coverage is booked. Ceremony audio and speeches are recorded properly where possible, then edited cleanly so you can watch and hear the important parts of the day.

Why does audio matter so much?

Audio carries memory in a different way. The sound of your vows, speeches, laughter and the room itself often becomes one of the most valuable parts of the film.

Do you offer full ceremony and speeches films?

Yes. Full ceremony and speeches films can be included depending on the package and the setup needed on the day.

What is an audio keepsake?

An audio keepsake is a separate edit of vows, speeches or important voices from the day. It can be listened to without watching the full wedding film.

Do you offer drone footage?

Drone footage is available where suitable. However, it depends on venue permission, weather, airspace restrictions and whether it adds anything meaningful to the final film.

Can we choose the music for our wedding film?

The music must be properly licensed. I choose music that fits the mood and pace of the film, although you can share the kind of feel you like before editing begins.

Pricing and Packages

How much does wedding photography cost?

Wedding photography starts from £1,295. This includes full-day documentary coverage, 500+ edited high-resolution images, a private online gallery and preview images shortly after the wedding.

How much do wedding films cost?

Wedding films start from £2,000. Extended wedding films start from £2,700 for couples who want a longer documentary edit with more ceremony, speeches and atmosphere woven into the story.

How much is photography and film together?

Combined photography and film coverage starts from £2,950. The final recommendation depends on the date, timings, venue, guest numbers and how much coverage you need.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes. A second photographer can be added from £495. This is useful for larger weddings, separate morning preparations, extra ceremony angles and more guest coverage.

Do you offer 35mm film photography?

Yes. The Analogue Edit can be added from £450. It includes a curated set of 35mm film photographs, developed and scanned, then blended into your final gallery.

Do you offer albums and prints?

Yes. Albums and prints are quoted separately because they are personal choices. I can suggest options from high-end album makers through to simpler online print solutions.

Booking and Availability

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for peak summer dates. However, shorter-notice weddings are still worth asking about if I have the date free.

How do we book?

Send me your date, venue and a few details about the day. If I am available and the style feels right, your date is secured with a completed booking form and a 25% booking fee.

When is the final balance due?

The remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding.

Can we meet before booking?

Yes. We can arrange a quick video or telephone call to talk through the day, the coverage you are considering and whether photography, film or both is the best fit.

How many weddings do you take each year?

I limit the number of weddings I take on each year. That keeps the work personal and gives every gallery and film the attention it needs.

What happens if you are ill or unavailable?

I have backup equipment and a trusted network of photographers and filmmakers who can step in if something serious happens. This is also covered in the booking terms.

Delivery and Files

How many photographs will we receive?

Most full-day wedding photography bookings include 500+ edited high-resolution images. Larger weddings or multi-day celebrations may receive more.

When will we receive our photographs?

Full galleries are usually delivered within 3 to 4 weeks. I also send preview images shortly after the wedding.

When will we receive our wedding film?

Wedding films usually take longer than photographs because audio, story and pacing need more detailed editing. Delivery is usually within 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the season and the coverage booked.

How are the photos delivered?

Your images are delivered through a private online gallery, which makes it easy to download, share and order prints.

How are the films delivered?

Wedding films are delivered online through a private link. Ceremony, speeches and any additional edits are supplied separately where included.

Do we get printing rights?

Yes. You receive personal printing rights, so you can print and share your images for personal use.

Travel and Locations

Where do you work?

I work across Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds, Berkshire, Bristol, London and selected UK locations.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included for many local weddings. For longer UK or destination commissions, I will confirm any travel costs clearly before you book.

Are you based in Oxford?

Yes. I am based in Oxford and also split time along the Kennet and Avon, which makes Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Bath, Bristol and the wider South natural parts of my coverage.

Do you photograph and film destination weddings?

Yes, for selected weddings where the day feels like the right fit. Travel, accommodation and logistics are quoted clearly before booking.

Do you work with other photographers or videographers?

Yes. I can work alongside another photographer or filmmaker where needed. Clear communication before the wedding helps everyone work calmly on the day.

Planning Your Coverage

Can we send you a shot list?

Yes, but keep it practical. A family group list is useful. A long list of obvious moments is usually not needed because I am already watching for the story of the day.

What happens if it rains?

Rain is not a problem. I adapt to the weather and work with the light, rooms, doorways, umbrellas, movement and atmosphere of the day.

Can we add extra hours on the day?

Usually, yes. If the day is running longer than expected and I am able to stay, extra coverage can be added at an hourly rate.

Do you need food on the day?

For full-day coverage, yes. A supplier meal is appreciated because it helps me stay on site, ready for speeches, evening moments and any changes in the schedule.

What should we do next?

Send me your date, venue and the type of coverage you are considering. I will let you know if I am available and suggest the best way to cover the day.
