A Wedding Across Syrencot
Syrencot gives a wedding day several distinct settings, from the Georgian manor and Glasshouse through to the walled gardens and Farmshed.
This celebration moved naturally between them. Preparations were quieter and more intimate, before the ceremony brought everyone together and the gardens opened the day out into something more relaxed.
Later, the Farmshed completely changed the pace, with speeches, music, food and a much stronger evening energy.
I filmed the wedding while my son covered the photography, allowing us to work together throughout the day without constantly directing the couple or competing for the same moments.
The Glasshouse, Gardens and Farmshed
Each part of Syrencot gives the day a different feel. The manor works well for quieter preparations, while the Glasshouse brings in more light and gives the ceremony its own distinct setting.
The walled gardens create space for guests to relax after the ceremony and give us opportunities for natural portraits without taking the couple away from the celebration for too long.
By the time everyone moves into the Farmshed, the mood has usually shifted again. Speeches, dinner and the evening party bring more movement, noise and interaction, which works particularly well for both photography and film.
A Wedding Full of Colour, Family and Energy
This was a lively multicultural celebration, with colour, family traditions, music, food and plenty happening throughout the day.
That kind of wedding suits the way we work. Rather than trying to control every part of the celebration, we concentrate on the reactions, relationships and smaller moments that happen naturally around the main events.
Photography holds the individual expressions and details, while film adds the voices, movement and energy around them.

For this wedding, I concentrated on the filmmaking while my son handled the photography. Working together meant we could cover the same day from two different perspectives without turning it into a production.
The photography captured the expressions, portraits and individual moments, while the film brought in the ceremony, speeches, movement and sound.
