These wedding photography and film FAQs cover the questions couples usually ask before booking photography, a wedding film or combined coverage.
You will find straightforward answers about pricing, timings, delivery, travel, family photographs, portraits, audio and what happens on the day.

Photography and Film Coverage
Do you offer both wedding photography and films?
You can book wedding photography, a wedding film or combined photography and film coverage. The best option depends on the timings, venue and structure of your day.
Can we book photography only?
Absolutely. Photography remains a core part of my work, with natural coverage throughout the day alongside family photographs and relaxed portraits when wanted.
Can we book film only?
Wedding film coverage is available for selected dates. The films use real sound, movement, ceremony audio, speeches and atmosphere rather than staged or repeated moments.
Can one person cover both photography and film?
For some weddings, a lighter combined approach works well. Larger weddings, separate preparations or more complex timings may need a second photographer or filmmaker so both sides of the coverage are handled properly.
Will you tell us what setup is best?
Yes. Once I know the venue, timings, guest numbers and what matters most to you, I will recommend the most sensible way to cover the day rather than simply adding more people or equipment.
Style and Approach
What is your photography style?
The photography is natural, relaxed and observational. I focus on real moments, strong composition and the atmosphere of the day rather than turning the wedding into a long photoshoot.
What is your wedding film style?
The films are story-led and built around real sound. Vows, speeches, laughter, music and the atmosphere of the day all help shape the final edit.
Do you pose people?
Most of the day is photographed and filmed as it happens. However, I will give simple direction when it helps, particularly for family photographs, couple portraits or moments that need a little structure.
Do you do family group photos?
Yes. Family photographs are included when wanted. I usually recommend keeping the list focused so they are completed efficiently and do not take over the day.
Do you direct couple portraits?
Yes, lightly. A short portrait session can give you some time together and a different set of photographs without disappearing from your guests for a long period.
What does “No stiff posing. No forced scenes. No fuss.” mean?
It means I do not manufacture moments simply for the camera. I work quietly, pay attention to what is happening and step in only when a little direction will genuinely help.
Wedding Films and Audio
Do you record the ceremony and speeches?
Yes. When film coverage is booked, I record the ceremony and speeches wherever the setup allows. Good audio matters just as much as the pictures, so I use dedicated microphones rather than relying on camera sound alone.
Why does audio matter so much?
Sound often brings a wedding back more vividly than pictures alone. Hearing your vows, speeches, laughter and the atmosphere of the room gives the film another layer of memory.
Do you offer full ceremony and speeches films?
Full ceremony and speeches edits are available depending on the package you choose. These sit alongside the main wedding film and give you the longer moments in full.
What is an audio keepsake?
An audio keepsake is a separate edit built from voices from the day, such as vows, speeches or messages. It gives you something you can listen to without watching the full wedding film.
Do you offer drone footage?
Drone footage is available when the venue, weather and airspace allow it. I only use it when it adds something useful to the film rather than including it for the sake of it.
Can we choose the music for our wedding film?
The music needs to be properly licensed. I choose tracks that suit the pace and atmosphere of the film, but you can always tell me the kind of music and overall feel you prefer before the edit begins.
Pricing and Packages
How much does wedding photography cost?
Wedding photography starts from £1,295. This includes full-day coverage, 500+ fully edited high-resolution images, a private online gallery and preview photographs shortly after the wedding.
How much do wedding films cost?
Wedding films start from £2,000. Extended films start from £2,700 for couples who want more of the ceremony, speeches, voices and atmosphere woven into a longer edit.
How much is photography and film together?
Combined photography and film coverage starts from £2,950. The best setup depends on your venue, timings, guest numbers and how much of the day you want covered.
Do you offer a second photographer?
Yes. A second photographer can be added from £495. This can be useful for larger weddings, separate morning preparations, additional ceremony coverage and more photographs of your guests.
Do you offer 35mm film photography?
Yes. The Analogue Edit can be added from £450 and includes a curated set of photographs shot on 35mm film, professionally developed and scanned, then included within your final gallery.
Do you offer albums and prints?
Albums and prints are available separately because the right option depends on what you want after the wedding. I can recommend everything from handmade albums to straightforward professional prints.
Booking and Availability
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, particularly for popular summer dates. However, shorter-notice weddings are always worth asking about if I still have the date available.
How do we book?
Send me your date, venue and a few details about the wedding. If I am available and you would like to go ahead, your date is secured with a completed booking form and a 25% booking fee.
When is the final balance due?
The remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding.
Can we meet before booking?
Yes. We can arrange a telephone or video call to talk through the day, the coverage you are considering and whether photography, film or both would suit you best.
How many weddings do you take each year?
I limit the number of weddings I take on so I can give each gallery and film the time and attention it needs.
What happens if you are ill or unavailable?
I carry backup equipment and have a trusted network of photographers and filmmakers I can contact if something serious prevents me from attending. The booking terms also explain what happens in that situation.
Delivery and Files
Most full-day photography bookings include at least 500 fully edited high-resolution images. Larger weddings or multi-day celebrations may result in more.
Full galleries are usually delivered within 3 to 4 weeks. I also send a selection of preview photographs shortly after the wedding.
Wedding films are usually delivered within 6 to 8 weeks. Film editing takes longer because the audio, story, pacing and different parts of the day all need to be brought together carefully.
Your photographs are delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download and share the full collection.
Wedding films are delivered online through a private link. Full ceremony, speeches and any additional edits are supplied separately when they are included in your package.
Yes. You receive personal printing rights, so you are free to print and share your photographs for personal use.
Travel and Locations
I photograph weddings across Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Somerset, as well as selected locations elsewhere in the UK. Wedding film coverage also takes me regularly to Bristol and Cornwall.
Travel within Oxfordshire is included. For weddings further afield, I will confirm any additional travel or accommodation costs clearly before you book.
My base is in Oxford, although I also spend part of the year along the Kennet and Avon Canal. That makes Berkshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and the wider South practical areas for wedding coverage.
Destination weddings are available for selected dates. Travel, accommodation and any additional logistics are agreed clearly before booking.
When the scale or timings of a wedding need additional coverage, I can bring in another photographer or filmmaker. Clear planning beforehand means everyone can work efficiently without making the day feel overproduced.
Planning Your Coverage
A short family group list is useful, especially for the people you definitely want photographed together. There is no need to list obvious moments from the day because I will already be watching for those as they happen.
Rain does not stop the photography. I adapt to the conditions and use the available light, indoor spaces, doorways, umbrellas and whatever the weather gives us.
If the wedding runs later than expected and I am able to stay, extra coverage can usually be added at an hourly rate.
For full-day coverage, a supplier meal is appreciated. It means I can stay on site and be ready for speeches, evening moments or any changes to the schedule.
