Wiltshire wedding venues

Choosing where to get married shapes the whole day, long before a camera comes into it. These are the Wiltshire venues I’d point couples toward, picked for how they work on the day rather than how they photograph.

A few of these I know first-hand, having covered weddings there myself. The rest I’ve researched carefully, because they come up again and again as venues worth considering across the county.

Venues I’ve worked at myself

Syrencot House, near Salisbury

Syrencot wedding photography and film in Wiltshire

Syrencot House keeps the ceremony, gardens and reception within one setting, so the day flows without guests needing to travel between locations. I covered a full wedding there, a Tamil and English fusion celebration, from the morning through to the evening party.

The Pear Tree, Purton

The Pear Tree mixes a converted former vicarage with a brighter, more modern Orangery, giving the day two distinct settings — one for the quieter morning hours, another for the reception. I covered a wedding there across the full day, from preparations through to speeches and the evening.

Barn wedding venues in Wiltshire

Wiltshire has a handful of barns worth knowing about if you want that mix of rustic character and open space.

Winkworth Farm is a recently restored Cotswold stone barn with room for up to 200 guests — one of the larger barn venues in the county.

Owl Lodge Wedding Barn, near Lacock, is a smaller, more intimate option, set in one of Wiltshire’s most picturesque villages.

Country houses and gardens

For couples wanting more formal grounds or a grander backdrop, Wiltshire has a good spread of country houses within easy reach of each other.

Grittleton House, near Chippenham, is a manor house with the kind of scale that suits a larger guest list and a more traditional day.

Stanton Manor, also near Chippenham, has its own on-site chapel, which makes it a straightforward choice if you want the ceremony and reception in one place without travelling between them.

Hatch House, near Salisbury, leans the other way — a country garden venue better suited to an outdoor ceremony and a more relaxed, marquee-style reception.

More venues worth considering

Beyond the venues above, a few others come up often enough to be worth knowing about. The Old Bell in Malmesbury pairs a historic building with its own grounds, while The Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa near Warminster has an on-site chapel if you’d rather keep the whole day in one place.

If you’re near the county edge, it’s also worth looking at venues just over the border — I cover weddings across Somerset and the Cotswolds just as regularly as Wiltshire itself.

Wiltshire wedding venue FAQs

Do you only photograph weddings at the venues on this page?

Not at all — this list is a starting point, not the full range. I cover weddings at any Wiltshire venue; these are simply the ones I know well or that come up most often when couples ask for recommendations.

Can you recommend a venue if the ceremony and reception need to be in one place?

Stanton Manor and Syrencot House both work well for that, since each has its own ceremony space alongside the reception, with no travelling between locations during the day.

Do barns or country houses suit your photography style better?

Neither has an edge over the other — the approach stays the same regardless of setting. What changes is how the light and space are used, not the way I work.

What if we haven’t chosen a venue yet?

Happy to talk through options before you’ve settled on one. Knowing roughly how many guests you’re expecting and what kind of day you’re picturing helps narrow it down quickly.

How far in advance should we book, once we’ve picked a venue?

As soon as the date and venue are confirmed, ideally. Popular Wiltshire venues get booked well over a year ahead, and photography dates fill alongside them.

Do you also cover venues just outside Wiltshire?

Regularly — Somerset and the Cotswolds are both well within my usual territory, so a venue near the county border is never a problem.

Found a venue you love?

Send me your date and venue, and I’ll confirm availability straight away.

Still deciding? That’s fine too — I’m happy to talk through any of the venues above, or others you’re considering, before anything’s booked.
